What if Cannabis was Legal?

Have you ever really thought about what it would be like? Well depending on whether you are for or against ganja, you probably think, “Everybody will be getting so high. It’s going to be awesome!” or “Everybody’s will be getting high. It’s going to be awful!” But in both cases you would probably be wrong. Rates of drug use are completely unaffected by the law, so whether it’s legalized or not, you won’t see an increase in use.

One of the effects of legal cannabis will however be seen clearly in the housing market. That is because of a substance called hempcrete. Hempcrete is what you get when you mix the cannabis (also known as hemp) hurds with lime. The lime binds with the hurds and creates a material that is 1/8th the weight of concrete. It will even float on water. Hempcrete is not strong enough for structural building but it is the perfect walling material. It absorbs moisture from the atmosphere, controlling humidity and asbsorbs heat as well. No need for air conditioners. The ability of hemp to bind with the lime is unmatched by any other plant material.

Cannabis does not need any fertilizer or pesticides to grow. It does not use a lot of water either and it matures to over 6 feet tall in as little as 14 weeks. So imagine you have a plot of land in wherever. You want to build a house. Instead of having to save up and budget for cement, stones, sand, you can simply grow a ton of cannabis on your land maybe. All you have to save up for is the structural elements either timber or metal or even concrete.

Once you have the structure complete it will only takes a day for a wall built with hempcrete to dry. The longer you have that house the harder the hempcrete gets.

Your house could easily outlive you. And your grand children. And your grand children’s grand children.

If cannabis were legal we would go from this

Well said brother. Our laws are still influenced by puritanism which is not practical for 21st century needs. Do you know the seeds and sticks can be used to treat chicken?

All I clearly know is that marijuana greatly magnifies your artistic abilities and attention to detail

:D:D:D:D You’re reachin’ bruh.

Too much fantasy there or you are high. I occasionally smoke some so there is no bias. On legalization, mmm Kenyan laws are too punitive for another harmless habit.

where am I reaching? Those are actual houses made with cannabis. Not the fruit, which is what is smoked but the stems and trunk of the plant. If most of construction material used is as easy to acquire as planting a seed, doesn’t that mean cheap housing for everyone?

You must be high on something

Hemp was used heavily by the US government in world war 2. It has a lot of benefits beyond smoking.

At least gava should make it legal to cultivate for export only.
Tobacco ni legal in steto lakini smokers wanalipa 1,200 bucks more on health insurance than non smokers.

Vile Gashwin amesema.

It’s a wonder plant. Kama mwarubaini. Yup.

“Why? Not to get all patchwork-shorts burnout-ball bro on you – and because none of this is anything new – but the fibrous stalk of this distinct, non-psychotropic strain of Cannabis sativa L is pretty amazing. Not only is hemp insanely durable, with fibers that are longer and stronger and more permeable and mildew-resistant than cotton. It can be grown in a range of soils and requires few pesticides, and can typically yield 3-8 dry-fiber tons per acre. That’s four times what the average arboreal forest can turn around.” http://motherboard.vice.com/blog/hemp
