‘Anti-natalist’ suing parents for having him without his consent

MUMBAI, India — A 27-year-old from India who’s suing his parents based on the philosophy of anti-natalism.
According to the New Yorker, anti-natalists believe that life is so bad or painful, that human beings should stop having children for reasons of compassion, claiming its better to have not been born than experience the harm of coming into existence.
Raphael Samuel, of Mumbai, India is suing his parents under this pretense. He reportedly doesn’t think they had the right to force him to be born without his consent.
The BBC notes that Samuel gets the seeming illogic behind the concept—after all, how can you ask someone who hasn’t been born yet if they agree to be born?—but his point is that since “it was not our decision to be born,” our parents should have to pony up the funds to take care of us for life.
Per the Facebook page he created devoted to anti-natalism, Samuel says people bringing kids into a miserable world is akin to “kidnapping and slavery,” and an act that strains the Earth’s resources, per News18.
This isn’t a new thing that’s been bugging Samuel, either: He says he first felt the anti-natalism pull when he was 5 and he didn’t want to go to school one day. He and his parents fought back and forth, until finally he blurted out, “Why did you have me?” The fact that his father had no answer got him to thinking.
The Times of India cites a now-viral YouTube videoin which he expands on his thoughts, and why he’s suing his mom and dad. Samuel tells the BBC that his parents, both attorneys, are pretty good-natured about his whole philosophy, though when he told them about his plans to sue them, his mom replied, “That’s fine, but don’t expect me to go easy on you. I will destroy you in court.”
He also concedes he’s not even unhappy with his life—it’s just that he wishes he’d had the choice whether to have one.

Vipi shoga mzee, did you find a spouse yet or creating multihandles is your preoccupation for the moment?

Crazy idiot. He should get back to eternity by just killing himself without their permission.

Jamaa ako sawa tu wacha a equalize kiasi juu wazazi most huona walikufanyia favour by giving birth and raising you, ati wazazi wengine walirusha watoto kwa pipa so you should be grateful they raised you, smdh.

Nonzenze kind of thinking … siuseme wazazi wako

Entitled parents wamejaa kenya hii na dunia mzima kaka have some family related convos with your friends ndio uta realize

In a lot families the most successful children get treated with utmost respect by the parents the less successful ones huona madharau sana

i’ve seen this a lot and its not just in my family

I pity the parents for wasting time on such an idiot whose thinking is getting narrower and narrower everyday.

is there any hope he might realize it some day ? hata sioni iki happen

If this guy hates life so much that he is suing for being born, then it can be argued that he values nothing, and sees nothing good that the world (which includes his parents) has put in place for his enjoyment. Seeing nothing good in being alive means it’s not possible to appreciate the value of people and institutions, including that very court in which he purports to seek justice. How can he seek justice from a human justice system, which he must hold in contempt based on his hatred of all things in life, which he blames on his very birth?
That means he cannot value whatever decision will be reached, and his case is a waste of the court’s time and ought to be thrown out. I wouldn’t be surprised if the judge orders a mental assessment for him.
