10,000 Empty rooms

Hi all, my curiosity has been drawn by the just concluded Ticad conference and the other one before this(yenye Mondi alikam), I forget, they have been so many! . The number of delegates has been so huge and I haven’t picked any complaint of accommodation crisis.
So my question is, does it mean that there are 10,000+, empty 4 star and above hotel rooms.
Does this make economic sense to hoteliers? and what then do they do to occupy these gaps when conferences are not there? .
These are opportunities to think outside the box and promote domestic occupancy of hotel rooms or better still organise dryfry conference several times a year.

Ati dry fry conference :D:D:D:D:D:D

Ever heard of air bnb , all those apartments you see that people buy , most owners do rent out rooms for tourists at very lucrative prices , range from 15USD per day to almost 100USD.

Kila biashara ina season

treat the international conferences as a nice surprise windfall, but the hotels usually have their normal occupancy at about 60 percent…unless they are hosting a workshop…kuja tuelezee hii maneno @Mundu Mulosi

The Bigger Box is the Africa will receive $3trillion grant to greater strength.

You that get wrong… Ameulizia na ka sarcasm flan…too if am not wrong

ka-tongue-in-cheek hivi…

Most Hotels will break even at an occupancy of 40 to 50 %. Most of our town Hotels operate at an average of 60% depending on the location, facilities and their marketing team. Even with 10,000 additional guests in town, they can’t fill out all our hotels to 100%. I work in a hotel and in the three years I have been there, 100% was attained just once and that was when POTUS was in town.

hio 3 trillion itarudishwa ikiwa 10 trillion

Unakunywa chai Ngapi hivi in one day ?

It’s better to have capacity than to come short.

same here biz has really gone down for the last two months we were previously fully booked over 270 rooms but sahii we struggling to get occupancy

the worst affected are coastal hotels. those doing well are those in naivasha, especially on conferences, honeymoons, mipango ya kando gateways etc

The only thing about an empty hotel room is that it doesn’t incurr any costs when it is unoccupied.
And when it is occupied; it generates almost a 100 per cent profit because of the minimal running costs. And all the while, the guests are paying premium prices for food, beverages etc…

It’s refreshing to see you think reasonably well about other things than your failed relationships.

You didn’t fill the rooms when the fake Mathenge was in town?

Thanks. I am so happy to get your accreditation. I am just a thick cunt who wouldn’t know how to tie their own shoelaces.
I feel so much better about myself now.
