We whine but do nothing about it. Do we have a culture ministry to patent these important songs and attires? Mimi bora wasiguse my all-time favourite circumcision song Mulongo

Lol who cares? What does the anthem or that other stupid song add to your life?

They can copyright my own name for all I care!

Your name yenyewe is stolen

At least I am original

Kenyans need to be taught about copyright law. There is so much ignorance going around.

This is a video of Gladys Knight singing the US national anthem at the Superbowl on Sunday.
Try to rip off the video or audio and post it on YouTube as your own, and you will immediately be hit by a copyright notice.
Why?
The US national anthem is not copyrighted. But when someone performs it, he or she owns that version.
In this case of the Superbowl, this version of the US anthem is an original work of Gladys Knight, and the copyright will be held by her, or those who contracted her… (NFL, or the TV station).

That’s how copyright works with public domain compositions.
The lyrics to Jingle bells, or Happy Birthday songs may be public domain, but every individual recording is copyrightable.

This is bullsh.it. Whining and pretending to be victims all the time.

Wazungu ndio walileta crappy land tenuring system Africa. Back then land belonged to clans. Still, today they still like owning everything. You would be surprised that Michael Jackson music belongs to some white executives and not his family.
