4 injured in makueni gun shots

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 23 – At least four
people were shot and seriously wounded after
a meeting to discuss the ouster of Makueni
Governor Kivutha Kibwana turned chaotic in
Wote town.
Those wounded include Kibwana’s chief of
staff, a bodyguard and two county officials
who were allegedly shot when the county
assembly’s security personnel opened fire to
disperse a charged crowd.
Trouble is said to have started when a group of
youths reportedly stormed the meeting of
Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) that
was allegedly planning the governor’s ouster.
Those wounded have been rushed to hospital,
some with serious injuries sustained during
the fracas.
Kibwana has condemned the incident and
demanded a thorough investigation into the
matter.
