5W - 30 Engine oil

Talkers Saidieni na pahali naweza pata 5W 30 fully synthetic engine oil.I am only getting 5W 40 or 10W but I need specifically 5W 30 .Thank you .

Why do you need 5w 30 for. The 5w indicates the viscosity of the oil at low winter temperatures and since we are in Kenya your car wont experience cold weather and you may not need a 5w grade oil. A 15w would be ok for example. The 30 describes the viscosity at high temp with a 5w -30 becoming thinner quickly as compared to a 5w-40. Since uko kenya you better use a oil that maintains its consistency under higher temp than at low winter temperatures. You also need to consider the car engine but I think a 5w grade oil is unnecessary.

toyota shop along mombasa road or the one along kirinyaga road. 4 litres metal can less than 2k. The truth is that cars have a particular oil viscosity that is optimum depending on condition and manufacturing specs. I think engines maintain a particular oil pressure so viscousity determines how easily oil flows. quick internet search will tell you manufacturers opinion.

Thank you.The Toyota shop ya Mombasa road is it at the same building as their showroom hapo Nyayo or Is it the Bellevue one ?

Same building on the side facing G4S.

Pia daresalaam road utapata hio ya metal can from japan @ a similar price. I haven’t used it though… mimi ni mutu ya MOTUL

What matter is the viscosity. In Kenya Kenya dont experience winter thus 5w is irrelevant spec to go for. Dependinding with the age of your car, for newer model with low mileage get full synthetic i.e Quartz 9000; or quartz7000 if it is a second hand car. Toyota just use marketing gimmicks for those drivers who are not enligtned on oil specs and charge you expensive.

Toyota oil is cheaper than what is sold by local oil distributors, but I guess it is imported canned in the different process and conditions. 5w30 goes for not less that 6k at shell, is hard to find and if you believe in the 15000km or 10000km bullshit you will damage the engine. by 7000km the oil is completely broken down. Gari ikienda 5000km change the oil.

Got this from Toyota Kenya, at less than Ksh 1900.Asante @Rene Descartes

Sisi tuko tropics, oil ni oil. Winter viscosity na summer tuliwachia Burma in ww1

Mimi ni peasant with a 1300cc engine if you dare use 10w you will have a challenge starting the engine with the first try.

Kwani ni diesel engine? Petrol engines haina cold start, where you have to warm the engine first, if petrol and you have fuel, compression and a working battery, spark plugs the engine must start.
