ABS brakes

are they really safe? especially in this wet season? some while ago…i hit the brakes as i neared a bump and i heard like a spring snap…and all the brakes were gone, no grip at all. Lucky there was no vehicle ahead…share your experiences…lets enlighten each other

I think your car was skidding due to the wet weather ,are your tyres in good condition?
Or there may have been some oil on the road, happens a lot when it rains.
Basically maintain a low speed during rains. Abs and all those safety features can be compromised by weather.

Weka Carbon ceramic brakes.

Same shit happened to me…this ABS is dangerous

I thought the idea behind ABS is to stop your car spinning out of control when you brake?

…maybe it does that…but the feeling of loosing the brakes completely is scary…and i believe risky. after some research, i have seen that ABS allows steering after heavy braking…but the feeling of no brakes inatisha

sasa hizo ni gani…kama zile za subaru zimeandikwa brembo ama? nichanue

In the same breath, there’s this indicator on the instrument panel that shows a car skidding, what does it mean?

At first glance, I thought this was from a NASA spaceship dashboard

Spinning control aka automatic diff lock is kicking in. Happens when one wheel looses traction.

traction control. in slippery condition the wheel spinning is locked and power transferred to the other wheel. not fun at all but safe you cant skid out of the road into the bushes.

you’re better off with it working. at least you can turn your car away from danger.
mine was messed a while back. i saw a looooooong night when i braked behind a stagnant (yes stagnant) lorry and the car just, kept, GOING!
i released the brake, turned the wheel and joined the middle lane just outside nakumatt mega towards town
luckily the car in the middle lane was a little far behind
once you learn to control the car, you’ll be fine
