I was browsing Aliexpress and saw a variety of reasonably priced telescopes. What specs are required to e.g see Jupiter’s red spot and its moons, Saturn’s rings or even watch visiting comets wadau?
For starters follow The Travelling Telescope on Facebook. They host public space viewings using a high tech telescope. Attend one of the sessions and you will meet other astronomers and compare equipment. that way you wont end up buying a toy. Bear in mind this is an expensive but fun hobby. This will most likely be after covid.
