Are CVT transmissions as bad as some people say?

Here's the thing about CVT... manufacturers have to induce a sense that it's changing gears... truth is it doesn't have gears, uses a continuous set of pulleys.
They are delicate as compared to convectional autos...case in point the new Probox

CVTs are great if you want something to move you around esp in urban areas with minimum maintenance costs and headache. Otherwise if you want something more engaging try a DCT or just go straight to MT.
