Banks and Staff Lay-offs

Why is it that kenyan banks are always so quick to lay staff off when their profitability is threatened?Aren’t there any other cost cutting measures that they can pursue instead of taking job seekers on this cycle every now and then.
This time around the adoption of the new IFRS 9 is the trigger.
Wale wenye huwa wanawak bank pole sana moreso mid level and low tier staff.

why work in a bank? mahali huwezi kojoa ukitaka, mahali huwezi kula njugu kazini, huwezi cheka venye unataka, huwezi ongea na wife kwa phone venye unataka? any job which curtails those small freedoms is a Big NO

First of all, IFRS 9 affects provisioning and not the ability of the bank to make money so decision to lay off is just justification for laying off mid level managers…

HOw do you open a bank account at that Bank? Niliskia they only give Indians loans, ni kweli?
