@The virus, why is the owner selling? What is the year of manufacture? Where has it been taken for service and repair?
An E46 can murder you with suspension issues and worn bushes. That is why BMWs come cheap and loose value big time. If you are going to buy a BMW that has been used in Kenya I would advise you to buy only from one Ochithunder if possible. I take care of them very well.
Who is the owner? If he lives in Eastlands, dont touch that car with a 100foot steel pole! BMWs are dirt cheap used because they can be very expensive to maintain after warranty if you are unlucky. You cant compare to a Mercedes, Mercs are much easier to deal with. If you dont have the patience, go for the C Class.
- What is the Odometer reading?
- Take it for a spin on a roughish road and tell me what you feel. Does it ride rough? Any noises from the suspension or steering?
- Does the gearbox shift with ease and smoothly?
- Any smoke from the exhaust?
- Ask the owner not to touch it overnight and start it the next day when cold. Does it start smooth, no vibrations?
If most of the above questions are positive and there are no warning sign on the dashboard then go for it. The owner really matters. A serious chap, good for you. Some hot head from Umoja, run run run:D
If it was well taken care of then you will enjoy it. Again a forensic audit of the type of owner before you is the best bet if at all you can get that info.
By the way I went to Western for a second time. The F10 is flawless. Hitting speeds of 250km/h on stretches without traffic with ease. Too much ease. These things are well built my brother!

Oh, one thing. Check the main bolts on the cylinder head. If they look like they have been opened before, whistle as you walk towards the gate…

First, you can’t afford it (Just joking:D), but if you could afford it am not sure you could convince me to sell it just yet. It is as sweet as I amagine “@missfourthletter” to be, honestly. I would be looking at 5 to 5.5m depending on my moods without battling two eyelids.
In 3-4 years though I will be more interested in selling it and even then I can assure you it will still be below 100k mileage!
People who go for BMW love their cars, I can tell you that for sure. But there is a breed from outering who make some unexpected money, feel they can go German and then take their 3 serieses to some garages along that road that goes to Kariobangi south. Very irritating and a serious waste of resources.
