Beach Flat(s)

So I am wondering, does it make sense to invest in a beach flat/studio in the coast when you stay in Nairobi and want to use it when you go down on long weekends and vacations whilst you lease it out the rest of the time. Do these apartments make any money for owners (Air bnb etc…)?

To hijack your thread how much for a furnished 1 bedroom or studio apartment down at the coast? Need one for work

Haiya.I thought @MISCHIEF was joking. Kumbe it’s serious.

You caused a mzozano here!!!

If you pay cash for it, then you will make some money by partially leasing eg airbnb, etc. Plus over the long term, its value will go up. But if your borrow to buy, you are in trouble.

Whats a studio apartment? An apartment with a studio? A photo studio or a music studio?

Read the comment below. It just proves that there might be a possible market

If it’s a villa, turn it into a holiday home. AirBnB works best with small leased apartments.
Buy yet again, your target audience will determine what’s best for your business model.
If you’re targeting business people who prefer the finest things in life, you’ll need a lot of marketing.
If you’re targeting backpackers and other travelers with tight budgets, AirBnB could cut it.

Do not be surprised to find that studio is going for Kes .20 million. Alafu kuna service charge. Fanya hesabu yako uone kama its worth it.

Okay guys, I live in Diani. Here’s the deal with this place. Tourism here is seasonal. At the moment, we’re on the low season. Over the past few months we’ve started seeing an increase in the number of local tourists visiting the area. Which is good for business. Now, building a studio here will get you decent returns if you market the property on booking.com and AirbnB. If I had the money I would do that. At the moment I have a 2br apartment that I’m renting at 30k a month. I spent close to 300k furnishing it. I normally give it out at around 5-10k per day depending on many factors. My strategy is to make sure it’s always occupied. If you do the math, giving it out at 3k a day will give you 90k a month, minus 30k rent you have 60k. So far so good…

Are there areas in Diani with good deals for flats? For a longer stay clientele? The retirees and Europeans

There are but hard to find. Ni kutafuta tu polepole
