Raila will be a one term “transitional” president after he signed off an agreement that states, “In the event of renewal of the Coalition Agreement as contemplated in paragraph (1) of this Article, the Coalition’s Presidential candidate in the August 2017 elections shall not be eligible for nomination as a presidential candidate for the Coalition."

Furthermore ODM will not produce NASA’s candidate in 2022.

“The Coalition’s Presidential candidate in the renewed Coalition shall be from a party other than the party of the candidate referred to in paragraph (2) of this (above) Article”, the NASA agreement states.

As Deputy President, Kalonzo would be first in line to take over in 2022. However Wiper leaders yesterday argued that the Kamba community got raw deal.

Kitui West MP and National Assembly Minority Leader Francis Nyenze and Kitui Senator David Musila said all Kamba MPs must be consulted and assured that their community will benefit if Nasa wins in August.

Nyenze said he led the Wiper negotiating team and Kalonzo was supposed to be the Nasa presidential candidate until Wednesday night.

“I was in the negotiation team and until the end Kalonzo was the flagbearer. We need to know how that changed. We need to consult because this came as a shocker. We can’t pretend things are okay,” Nyenze said at Parliament yesterday.

Nyenze said they suspected foul play and that is why they did not attend the Uhuru Park rally.

Well, I guess some are happy with trinkets of glass and plastic, imaginary gold and silver. What were those positions again, and how were they going to be created?

Am one proud Luhyia but to be honest our region lacks genuine leaders whom you can confidently back for the highest seat in the land. The likes of Musalia cant even command total Vihiga support, leave alone whole of Luhyia and its all due to the mistakes he made way back in 2002. well, we can blame the sub tribe factor but with Masinde Muliro and Martin Shikuku in his prime we were very close to a united Luhyia. Our leaders are also not wealthy enough to rally the community behind one person. My point is, The Luhyia vote was there for the taking but Uhuru erred. Who advices Uhuru?Who is Wamalwa in Luhyialand? Who is Lusaka? and why concentrate on Bukusus only? Mumias and Panpaper, though not the fault of Jubilee have also worked against the government. Analysis is not exhaustive but you get a rough picture why Raila has had it easy getting accepted in Luhyialand. During the last election my county voted against Raila and had very many non ODM Mps…the same county is still undecided, Jubilee can easily sway it if they play well…so far they havent

Raila has always had is easy in Luhyaland and there is very little Uhuru can do about it until the populous tribe gets rid of its clannish divisions and make a fist. JaKuon exploits that fractious nature to the max.

It is also not a question of who is rich or not. Wetang’ula, for example, made billions in his cabinet years and from the embassies and oil concessions in Turkana.

I believe that Uhuru and Ruto are open to development-minded members of Western, but they have refused to be drawn into the ethnic-kingpin type of politics that drives Raila’s political machine.
