Being black in Asia

Anyone who have been to Asia, what was your experience?
Which country were you vising?
I have heard horrible stories from several people who have been these counties especially south Asia.

Tourists who idle around are the ones who experience racism. But if you go there with clear objectives you won’t encounter any shit

I have enough money but I am not intending to visit Asia and Eastern Europe anytime soon. They’re bad places for a black person to be found nowadays.

For all the rave reviews I hear about China, I’ve never heard of anyone dying to live there permanently. How weird is that!

I’ve traveled around the world for business and one thing I’ve come to realize, racism only apply if one feels superior over you but if they know they need you too… they’ll treat you with respect!

Most just get bored of the place. And of course China ain’t a demo country. So most foreigners won’t feel that “freedom” as they would have in other countries like Sweden etc. Any break of law can get one jailed and/or deported immediately. So guys know they need to be cautious. With that said though, I know of many Western Europeans who are in China & they ain’t planning of leaving the place any time soon. Some Israelis I met even started their own restaurant and its booming. Its rarely coz of racism that guys leave. Yes, there is but it’s just like how Kenyans even hate their own blood. Racism is everywhere. I have been treated by many Chinese friends to even high-end hotels like Shangri-La & Intercontinental without them wanting anything in return. Pale Dubai UAE nimefika na I never really was comfortable with the place. In my opinion, majority of the foreigners (esp Africans) are there merely coz of the cash they get.

I think the best answer for such a Q is for YOU to travel. Of course go armed with some basic knowledge of the place you visit… but most importantly, go with an open mind. Your experience might be quite different from the others. Having been to China (no other Asian country for me yet), I always find it hilarious how people talk crap about this country. Worst is that I can tell most of them have never maybe even traveled outside their own country to arm themselves with knowledge based on experience. Again, I am not saying its a place you will feel like heaven every day, but just imagine its the same exaggerated crap you hear Europeans talk about African countries; living in “jungles” with the wild animals & such.

So if its a country like Cambodia you planning to go, yes take note of what your pals tell you but don’t conclude with their experience alone. Know about the country itself, laws, culture etc before deciding to travel. I recall the first time I arrived in China I met an Ethiopian who kept lamenting on how he hates the place & how he will leave the country immediately once he is done with his own biz. 3 years later, he is the one working with some of the big clubs in the city & he got a Chinese girlfriend(s).
