Best place to set up a ranch

Hello guys where in the country is most suitable (affordable land and ease of facilities that might be required) to set up a ranch.Want to rear purely goats not sheep

Plus I can rear kuku too that’s beside the ranch notion though but am passionate about them a lot for both meat and eggs… I could set up modern housing for the same and do it in large scale as well.

Thanks.

narok could work for you, gilgil also though sijui kama unaeza pata land kubwa

In terms of acreage … what are you looking at. Tuanzie hapo.

Small ranch starts at 100 acres

How small can it get just wanted to start small, let’s say a 800 female goats and 100 male.

How many goats can it support

Is 10 acre enough for upto 50 dorper sheep.I am conceptualizing that thought.
If I get land in Nyandarua then I will rear the Merinos

Wuehhh then my dreams are not valid cc @Gaza

Ingia laikipia.Land pale is more than you neef

Just curious why go for Sheep instead of goats?

Shida ni security huko

Go to Kibwezi, that’s where Somali’s buy their goats.

Thanks… what’s your opinion on the place to set up a ranch

That’s not starting small and from the above statement I can tell you have little to no experience or know how. A good buck can serve 35 to upwards of 50 doe’s. For every 100 does, 2 good bucks can do. So for 800 does how many males do u need … do the math. If you were synchronizing you need even less. For an inexperienced starter those numbers will be overwhelming … goat management is not as easy at it seems. Goats are love browsing and move alot na pia hazitambui fence hivi hivi. A well trained, dependable n dedicated, responsible, loyal labourers is key n not easy to come by. Otherwise u will spend ur days searching for them. Many other factors are involved for successful goat rearing. I suggest you do more research and scale down the numbers. Learn, get the experience n grow. Unless of course you have the money to get professional management.

Easy managent. Sheep also gain and multiply faster than goats.

Just targeting a different market,I have also reared them in the past, they are easy to handle and multiplies very quickly.
For goats there is always a challenge of getting them so natural feed that they like so much, they are cunning and argumentative

Is that what you understood Mr. Curiosity huh?

Goats mostly’ eat shrubs and low lying tree branches (leaves), preferably in hot climates, i would recommend Rift region, Baringo kwa Njemps is more safe and mutton from there is the best in the country, Sheep on the other hand most often graze on grass on the ground, preferably in cold regions, Mount Kenya region maybe? the kuku you’re saying unless ni for home consumption, ni ngumu kuifanya commercially as a part time lecturer that you are.

I have one in sultan hamud but moving them goats to Nanyuki.

Hizo bandits vile zimehangaisha buana.
