So this guys is kicking himself because microsoft missed out on the phone operating system market since gates didnt take it as seriously as he should have and Android is now dominant. According to him, it should have been a “natural” market for them to dominate as they were already dominating the pc operating system market. He also says, in the software world, its a “winner take all” scenario and there is only room for one dominant non-apple phone operating system…
Let us not forget that Gates empire is built on stolen ideas and not always executed with much diligence. I am happy that we’re not dependent on MSphone or some similarly named OS.
there are infinite number of moments you could have done things different to change all history. ata wewe you have probably missed a million moments to be a billionare. bill gates did what he did and did it well. the rest is getting greedy.
I will say a million times that phones are not alfa and omega in tech. they are just a small part of it. it like expecting a company that produces petroleum to start making cars. even making tires is still tech industry. kila mtu ako kwa lane yake.
Apple stole “borrowed” a bunch of ideas as well let’s not forget. Like the mouse and the GUI from Xerox park…“good artists borrow, great artists steal.”
But also, we shouldnt forget that those with a great idea who fail to market it only have themselves to blame. Xerox, the inventers of “point and click” computing, had a great idea but just couldnt see it. Whats wrong with Apple and Microsoft realizing the implications of the idea and bringing it to market?
For all we know, if they didnt “steal”, the idea would have died at Xerox and we would still be doing DOS computing I.e command line. This stolen idea opened up computers to the masses… something Xerox was not interested in doing.
