Boarding schools must be phased out

Pupils should live with their parents while studying. There’s no point of sending children to secluded monk like facilities for all their youthful life.

Learning should be incorporated into daily life as a continuous process, and not made look like life has to stop for learning to happen.

At least seven students have been killed and 10 others taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a school in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, officials said.

The fire, which broke out early on Saturday morning, burnt down one dormitory of Moi Girls school, the education secretary told reporters outside the high school.

That makes no sense. It would limit students to their locality. Measures such as smoke detectors, exits etc with tough criminal codes for non adherence should be enforced.

Did you think this opinion through bro. How about we stop traveling to avoid accidents

Exile into boarding schools not important, so long as school resources are distributed equally.

Boarding schools should only be limited to hardship areas, which now we expect devolution to cure.

Actually, we should do away with formal education all together…that should stop the fires.

Wait a minute …you do understand this makes no sense …so all form of boarding institutions for learning should be taken into consideration …yes campus and even civil service training camps…they all pose these kind of dangers.

There’s no problem in that, if access to education is equally distributed. Boarding schools can become the exception, rather than the norm. And this is not just about school fires.

In my opinion, both primary and secondary boarding schools should become the exception, rather than the norm. Even universities stopped limiting admission numbers to available boarding space.

Parents should be willing to bring up their children during these critical years of their lives, not getting them off their backs by sending them to boarding schools.

Kuna kitu umesahau

campus was to get more students …here we are talking about fires.
Boarding schools upende usipende zitabaki…went through it in secondary and came out okay…You think fires can’t occur in day schools…and it to be worse cuz maybe kuna traffic during the day so even the normal response seen here would have had a bigger event…anyways the bottom line.Fires can be controlled and managed but institutions cut corner the kenya fire department doesn’t even regulate these buildings…and lastly the we don’t teach these kids how to face these fire accidents…wanna panick am sure the next few weeks they will do some sham like drills…but never seriously and occasionally check that these kids acquired the knowledge and understanding of what to do in such cases…

Wapi boss…jua kichwa haiload 100% hauoni gifs zenyewe zanichenga…

I too support this school of thought.
Parents have abdicated from their responsibility of raising their children and passed it on to boarding schools. The government should provide good schools within close proximity in all localities and even abolish the current categorization of national/provincial. …such that all schools are treated equally.

My focus is on the normality of boarding schools, not just fires. Where accidental fires happen, the reason is usually systematic and structural weaknesses that need to be addressed by other solutions.

Say anything but homocieth cuz that is another thing all together and boarding or day won’t curb that shit

I support this and with the abolishment of boarding school maybe we can achieve free secondary education since boarding expenses would be a thing of the past

Strange way to look at things , simply put basic requirements for any building should include smoke detectors , all must know how to operate fire extinguishers which should be available .
Cameras and technology need to be taken advantage off , and where are the security guards?,there should be some on night watch .
There are opportunities for jobs everywhere .
We take some matters too lightly and never learn from the past .
Parents are already coughing up a lot of money into these schools , the least they could do is ensure safety for the children.
