It was touted to be the dawn of a new era, the mighty USA finally launching it’s astronauts to the ISS using American technology rather than depend on the reliable and much tested Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
The Russians have so much perfected the technology that they are able to dock at the ISS within a mere six hours from launch to docking compared to American spacecraft which takes 3 days to lock on the ISS trajectory and race it through space till they catch up.
Now today the Americans launched the much touted Boeing Starliner that was to start delivering American astronauts directly from US soil to.the ISS .
It all went hopelessly wrong as the craft is lost in space and all mission engineers can do is crash it back to earth.

It was a test flight. The Starliner was unmanned and the NASA and Boeing tech staff later made contact with the craft. They identified the problem which was a timer that malfunctioned thus failing to fire up the the thrusters needed for insertion to the ISS orbit instead it went on an unplanned orbit. They hope the craft will land back safely on Sunday
