Incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta will easily secure his second term in October repeat polls. Kenyatta will score 58.9% win, a point shy of 60% win, against opposition leader Raila Odinga 38.2%.

Foreign Policy Africa projected 54.4% win for Mr Kenyatta in the August polls, the only accurate prediction throughout the 2017 political season in Kenya. The win was however annulled by the Supreme Court Nairobi.

58.9% would represent a significant shift from the August result, though the poll suggest a fairly settled picture. First, it’s worth making the obvious point that every single poll throughout the campaign has put President Kenyatta’s Party ahead. He has gained popularity since August. He has been on the campaign trail consistently.

We’ve looked a lot at the gap between the two top parties and their candidates – arguably too much. But the polls suggest it could be anywhere beyond a 20-point lead. Kenyatta buoyed by incumbency and a robust campaign team is In pole position. He also commands immense support country wide unlike Odinga’s campaign bandwagon.

The political opposition NASA led by Odinga has been losing support and is expected to do badly, but the scale of its decline is a shock. The party got few numbers in parliament, an indicator Odinga’s clout and authority politically has diminished.

The decision to annul the presidential result was however found lacking in substance. Legal experts termed it as a farce and judicial activism. The decision by Chief Justice Maraga was whimsical and showmanship. Maraga was religiously and politically overzealous thus emotional in his ruling.

Ngoja tu hapo wakuje na za twitter showing Raila winning at 99%.
