But not to compete with Tanzania

Four years time, God’s will siasa itakuwa imeshika sana, kama sasa tu

In 4 years time phase 2A Nairobi-Naivasha, 2B Naivasha-Kisumu & 2C Kisumu-Malaba will be complete.

SGR cargo services between Mombasa & Nairobi starts in a month time on Dec 2017. This will pay for its loan, interest and operations.

Meanwhile phase 1 is still been expanded. Point 0kms at Port Reitz cargo terminal at Kilindini port is been expanded to take the truck from berth 1 to 10 so that cargo containers can be loaded from the ships directly to the train wagons. Cabinet has also approved the extension of the truck from Mombasa to Lamu port which its 3 modern berths will be completed on 2019.

Lastly it now makes sense why they bought only 5 diesel electric passenger wagon engines. They knew it was a short term solution until we get enough power to electrify the truck. I hope we pick the double wagon electric passenger train.

Hio ya naivasha to kisumu, they need to rethink

Yeah that conversation has being taking place but a direct route from Naivasha-Narok-Bomet-Kisumu is cheaper and the topography is straight which wouldn’t need any more expensive long bridges and tunnels.

Hopefully that weed at Lake Victoria can generate some electricity to reduce the running cost.

Apa GOK wamenifunga bao. I was on attack sometimes back comparing ours and Ethiopia SGRs. All the better.

Two different projects with different needs and briefs. In the future I hope they can link up. For now on Dec 1st we will ahead of them as both passenger and cargo services of Kenya SGR will be operational. Ethiopian SGR is still at trial stage more than a year after its launch.

We were told people are vandalise the sgr due to malice, and then tunaletewa wenzao hiyo Mali, the planners must be either don’t care or stupid to take the investment to harms way.
