It is completely dissimilar to the old testament by very far! The writing style, the language, the theme and the message, it is all alien. Not Jewish at all! Jesus spoke in Hebrew and Amharic in his day to day life. His disciples were all Jews and they spoke the same language as Jesus. Why then were the Gospels written in English…, Ee, sorry! Why were the Gospels written in Greek instead of Hebrew which was still widely used back then? And why is the core message so very against the Jews and suspiciously too pro Romans who were supposed to be the oppressor government?
The whole bible is a conglomeration of past religions , the great flood, the trinity, the virgin birth were all parts of past religions from Egypt to ancient Mesopotamia.
Even the old testament is not monotheistic !
No. The Hebrews were polytheists. Even the allegory of Abraham has it that his father Tera had many gods. One of Jacob’s wives travelled everywhere with her gods. Baal was widely worshipped by the Israelites.
But none of those gods performed miracles… like Yahweh sent manna down from heaven, appeared as a burning bush, pillar of cloud, razed down sodom and Gomorrah etc
The Hebrew Bible/Old Testament itself recognizes and reports that originally the Israelites were not monotheists but actively engaged in idolatry and worshipped many foreign, non-Jewish Gods besides Yahweh and/or instead of him, unapatana na Baal, Astarte, Asherah, Chemosh, Dagon, Moloch, Tammuz amongst many. Notice how the Bible and its apologists make the way Aaron mobilised the gold and made the golden calf sound casual and pedestrian! Notice how they mislead readers to believe that it is the people who coerced Aaron to make the calf! On the contrary, Aaron was their leader and he did not just ask them to bring forth the materials. He ordered them. He made the calf (how did he know what to make if he was not a priest or something similar) and went ahead to lead in the worship and the celebrations and feasting that ensued!
The Catholic Church has hated the Jews and their religious traditions throughout the millennia. They were the ones who manufactured Christianity to try and dilute the strong Jewish beliefs.
