You can take a hoss to water…

There was a DW Documentary about Cambridge Analytica & its parent company (based in the U.K). How they use(d) social media to influence voters.

nonsense, Cambridge analytica only acquired mystery status after Trumps win. We now know Russians did the heavy lifting,Cambridge analytica and Pascarle just took credit because fancy bear and cosy bear couldnt. They are toddlers in this game.

They did not hack any electoral system. They only used social media psychographic data and user profiles to sway the minds of voters and tailored fake news to smear opponents. They are under the hammer due to ethical concerns in the UK.

Kenyans vote in tribal lines, how do you manipulate a Raila Odinga fanatic to vote for Uhuru or vice versa on Facebook?
Probably the undecided voters who in Kenya are always less than 5%.
Too little to seriously sway an election.

You don’t know Kenyans, by the end of the day it will have been twisted to mean that Cambridge Analytica had access to Saffran Morpho servers.

Smear campaigns can shore up voter turnout significantly more so in our tribal society. I bet Jubilee supporters were more scared of a Raila Presidency than they were enthusiastic of a Uhuru Presidency. Raila’s image was systematically deconstructed over the years.

@Mathaais doesn’t want to believe that what he thought was his own carefully weighed tribal decision was in fact concocted in someone else’s mind. :p.

Forgot to add: The documentary was on 2016 US Election.

E.g. Voters in Pro-Gun states would get sponsored content about how H. Clinton would take away their guns & voters in swing states would get content on private email servers & cash for influence scandals.

Plus they would promote fake news links & content on social media such that Hillary was always on the defensive.

cambridge analytica probably hypnotized kalooser into the ‘Mt. kenya lie low’ gaffe, mr. waceke’s ’ freeze development in MT kenya’, not forgetting they convinced rat to continue with his 42-1-2 violent politics.

From that video, there is nowhere Cambridge admits to ‘manipulating Kenya’s election RESULTS’.
This is what Nasa will want their illiterate followers to believe. That CA hacked the infamous server and made Uhuru winner.

In fact, CA only ran Uhuru’s campaign, by their own admission, by conducting surveys of 50,000 respondents (twice), writing the manifesto and writing speeches.
To summarize, Cambridge Analytica combined the functions of a PR firm and an opinion pollster. It’s like having Gina Din and Ipsos in the same room.

If your argument is that they spread propaganda, point me to one country where propaganda is not the central to any campaign.
As a matter of fact, the biggest propaganda in 2017 did not come from CA. It came from Nasa, telling us that there is no way Jubilee could win without stealing.

I’ve watched the clip and the executive being recorded secretly states categorically that they’re NOT in the business of fake news. He says their job is to collect profiles and segment them for effective messaging.

Exactly. The biggest propaganda news in reality comes from Nasa and not Jubilee/Cambridge.

It works by reinforcing existing beliefs (real or fake), not by trying to change minds.

When about 1000 people were killed in 2007 in his name, the fear of Raila did not need help from Cambridge Analytica.
And isn’t that what politics is all about? Deconstructing your enemy over time?
Since 2013, Raila did his best to ‘deconstruct’ Uhuru via real and imagined corruption allegations.

I wouldn’t have voted for babuon in 2002 if he wasn’t in NARC, I didn’t vote for him in 2007, I didn’t vote for him in 2013, explain to me how Cambridge Analtica could have reinforced my existing belief in 2017.
