Camping for the solo hiker

Anyone with suggestions for good camping facilities for solo hikers?
If they’d happen to have hiking or nature trails as well, the better.
Note that I own no automobile and therefore my travels are by public transport…I rarely hitchhike because I’d rather walk, chatting up residents and all.

Relatively safe, accessible from the nearest town by say walking…mostly walking.

Try ol donyo sabuk national park. I think they offer camping at cheap rates and the nearest market isn’t far from the park. it’s also close to Nairobi. A friend told me KWS have a nice setup there.

Most of the good places are national parks but they’re normally a distance from main roads…but if you’re serious with the walking…

Not to derail the thread, guys kindly include places with bike trails mkitoa suggestions.

I’d suggest Mt Suswa. I haven’t been there yet but the place is in my plans. My research has shown that it has hiking trails and you can camp there and it isn’t too far from the maaai mahiu-narok road

na ile siku mtaanza kuform a ‘mountaneering/travel club’ of some sort halls @ me. I’m a traveler @ heart

Bicycle ama motorbike?

Good initiative sir.

Vile umeambiwa…oldonyo sabuk is great. A question do you carry your own tent?

Bicycle mkuMbwa.

A bicycle you transporting it somewhere ndio you ride ama you wanna ride from the city

A bicycle to be transported and rode either within the camping area or close by.

Walking is no issue. I can easily do 3 to 5 hours a day.

Good addition, thank you.

I will carry my own tent. But if their rates are acceptable, no issue.

So I have Ol Donyo Sabuk and Mt. Suswa. Good for a start

Swafi…you can go to naivasha crescent camp…pitch your tent there…then in the morning ride to hells gate to the hotsprings and then take a swim…kama kuna mtu mwingine they can drive ahead and meet you there and then drive back to the camp

Swaafi mkuu…

Hmm used to do it alot back in college mat to ngong hills hike to kiserian mat back to town, matatu to hells gate hike to ,longonot, kijabe hill to fly over and a mat back to Nairobi, machakos hike to kima kimwe hill hike to some other hill and a trek back to Machakos, Mt Kenya mat to Nanyuki mat to Sirimon route serious hike to gate , acclimatize for a day hike to Old Moses, hike to Shipton, hike to Lenana .
Never did it solo though but don’t see why you can but better with company.
