Chalbi Desert Safari - Kenya's own version of Dubai Desert Safari

Good evening my good people.

This is a continuation of my experience in Marsabit County. If you havent read my previous post about Marsabit National Park you can do so via this link Beauty Up North; Marsabit National Park

I hope we are together now. This is Day 2 of 4 of our recently concluded Marsabit County Tour courtesy of Africa Vacation Safaris. On this particular day we wake up early in the morning for breakfast; a heavy one of course because we have been reliably informed that we are going to cover over 230 KM plus of rough road and under unforgiving sun of the North. We also spend like 30 minutes shopping at Marsabit before boarding our cruisers for North Horr

From the hotel we drive less than 5 minutes and turn left to begin our Desert Cruise.

Route … Marsabit -Segel Maikona Kalacha El-Gathe North Horr

From here I will let the photos do the talking

The first photo of Cruiser 1 just after living the tarmac. Dont ask me where the lush green forests I talked about in the previous post have disappeared to. This is Marsabit and this is one of its wonders.

Katambe sana…

Marsabit Traffic Jam. This is the first time the Cruiser is forced to cruise under 100 KMPH ( I hope Matiangi for roads is not in this Forum:D:D).

But you think over speeding is wrong? How about this “Resident Cruiser” an ex GK by the way carrying like 20 persons only? And by the way We were informed by our guide that it is not full because they are trying to observe social distancing hahaahaha

Anyway lets proceed.

And by the way I have unlimited footage and photos of this 230 KM stretch that I am still working on. So allow me to post just 3 and arrive North Horr

I would really would have liked to share a short video but its so heavy. Maybe I will try to embed from YouTube later.

Our first break for photography in the Chalbi…

Fast Foward…

We are at North Horr at around 2 for lunch and the we go swimming…

The swimming pool is constructed next to an Oasis and it has fresh water. I will post a photo for evidence because I know most of you dont believe that there can exist a swimming pool in a desert

We head to the desert at around 4 after like two hrs of swimming
