What’s up with the retail market in. Ke ? Ama Kenya ndio ground zero.

Saturated.

Let the Chinese in then.

i hope this works. there are too many livelihoods at stake here. there’s is a shareholder war in Botswana that affected things this far.

This guys were in red in their parent country , Botswana. They only exported the red here.

It still makes no sense to me how a supermarket loses money. The business model is so simple and you don’t even have to purchase inventory upfront.

Spending power my friend, we have embraced alot of things retail and all but our population doesn’t have the spending power to sustain these lifestyles…

Choppies problems started with the leadership wrangles in their parent company down south.

  1. Wizi. Supermarkets are targets of theft from all corners. Customers, employees and managers are all in a good position to conspire to steal from the place, and there’s no way of eliminating theft completely. All supermarkets just try to limit it to a certain amount and they even have a technical term for it(shrinkage).
  2. Bad location
  3. Supplier issues (which are usually intertwined with number 1)
  4. Overambitious size of the supermarket

kenya’s economy is overated

Next ni Tuskys.
I heard that they are planning for an IPO and go public.
Hizo shares siwezi gusa with a ten foot pole.

There is a credit limit period/agreement. Once that lapses without settling, no supplier will give u their products on credit. And since their parent company in Botswana iko na issues…no money is coming in

This is precisely the problem. Otherwise, the supermarket business model shouldn’t be a money loser. It is all down to poor financial management. The Kenyan unit should be managed separately. indeed, each branch should operate as a distinct profit centre.

Unfortunately livelihoods will always be affected but some stuffs have to happen for things to even out.Remember those owed the money have some livelihoods too at stake
