Christian Cooper ‘Uncomfortable’ That White Woman Who Called the Cops on Him Lost Her Job

Christian Cooper, the black guy, birdwatcher from NYC was on “The View” saying that he feels bad because the white lady who called cops on him lost her job, her dog and basically her entire life. Which brings into question this whole online “cancel culture.”

What is cancel culture? The term has been credited to Black Twitter. It refers to the popular practice of withdrawing support for people and companies after they have done or said something considered objectionable or offensive. Cancel culture is generally discussed as being performed on social media in the form of group shaming.

It’s crazy and sad that our world has come to where social media dictates that a person’s entire life can be brought down and defined by a 30 second incident caught on video. No one is allowed to have a bad day anymore because you just never know who’s recording you and whether you’ll be the next guy/gal trending all over the world. I’m not defending Amy Cooper but goodness, her entire life is basically over. Losing a prestigious job at Franklin Templeton in these pandemic times makes her situation all the more worse.

Other Amy Coopers who share the same name with this lady are coming out stating they’ve been hounded by vicious online gangs, bullied and received numerous death threats. This is what it means to “cancel” someone or boycott them in very damaging ways. Has online shaming gone too far?

If anyone here has time, please watch Season 3 Episode 1 of Black Mirror (Nosedive). It depicts a world where people rate each other from one to five stars for every interaction they have, which can impact their socio-economic status. It’s a depressing show but I see a dystopian future ahead where people walk around with public scores on their heads depicting what kind of person they are.

Bless this guy’s heart, what a gracious man. I’m not sure I would have done the same thing if I were in his shoes.

Christian Cooper, who took a video of a white woman appearing to call the cops on him in Central Park, appeared on “The View” Thursday to discuss the reaction to his video, saying he’s been “uncomfortable” with some of the fallout. Amy Cooper has lost her job and her dog and has been receiving death threats.

“First of all, about the death threats: I’ve been unequivocal about that ever since I found out she was getting them. It’s abhorrent and it’s contrary. If you think what she did was wrong — that she was trying to bring death by cop down on my head — then there is absolutely no way you can justify then turning around and putting a death threat on her head. So that’s got to stop. That’s not acceptable. Everything else that’s happened to her — I don’t — I’m uncomfortable with defining someone by a couple of seconds of what they’ve done,” Cooper said.

He went on to call it a “stressful situation” and “moment of very poor judgement,” though he pointed out “there is no excusing that it was a racist act.”

The clip was posted on Twitter Monday by Cooper’s sister, who also appeared on “The View.” She wrote in the post, “Oh, when Karens take a walk with their dogs off leash in the famous Bramble in NY’s Central Park, where it is clearly posted on signs that dogs MUST be leashed at all times, and someone like my brother (an avid birder) politely asks her to put her dog on the leash.”

In the clip, the woman is seen threatening to call the cops on Cooper while holding her dog by the collar. She places a phone call and repeatedly identifies Cooper, a Harvard graduate and NYC Audubon Society board member, as “African American.” The dog rescue from which she got her dog posted an update Monday saying she voluntarily surrendered the animal after the “concerned public” reached out to the organization. On Tuesday, her employer, Franklin Templeton, announced she had been fired from her position as a head of insurance portfolio management. She subsequently issued a public apology.

“Does that define her entire life? I don’t know. Only she can tell us if that defines her entire life by what she does going forward and what she’s done in the past,” Cooper told “The View” Thursday. “I can’t answer that so the frenzy makes me uncomfortable.”

Central Park birdwatcher Christian Cooper tells us even though the viral incident “was a racist act,” he’s “uncomfortable with defining someone by a couple of seconds of what they’ve done” and condemns the death threats made against her.

:D:DBlack people get cancelled all the time. It’s only a problem when it turns to attack your master race.

Alafu ati, ‘What is cancel culture? The term has been credited to Black Twitter.’ . Immediately painting it to seem like a black people thing, when it’s a human issue.

Eneway, troll away madam @Purple , don’t let me get in your way.

This is an another unfortunate case.
The US(and many other countries, including Vumbistan), has been so focused in its capitalist endeavors that they forgot to address its social fabric.
The results are now coming home to roost: violence and immense hatred and mistrust between the classes, between the races(between tribes in Kenya, etc)
The case of the woman losing her job is unfortunate…the bad thing is also that she is apologetic only because she has been caught. This “Karen” has reached psychological Arrested Development phase with regards to her treatment of the African race(like a majority of other races).
I just wish these things were addressed sooner. If this was never filmed, chances are high that the black dude would’ve been arrested.
The US has reached a position where it should decide to address these issues of inequality, prejudice and violence. The solution won’t be attained now, but the fruits will be enjoyed by future generations if they are to be instituted now.

@Purple what did the nìggers ever do to you? You always have a condescending attitude towards them.

Your husband is black and so is your kid. Siku yako itafika tu.

Increasingly we are seeing cases of whites being shamed to death over their bigotry. Its more understandable and sort of, justified if the outcome of racist actions ended up with loss of life…but do we really have to destroy people’s lives over words? I’m not supporting what Amy Cooper did in any way; however i think there should be a way to rehabilitate racists instead of condemning them forever. He that is without sin may cast the first stone. None of us is perfect and shouldn’t be defined by a 30 second video, consisting of regrettable words uttered in the heat of the moment.

Well said!
Central Park Karen is a by-product of years of social conditioning in a country which values her kind. That’s how she was raised so I think we need to take that into account. It’s not easy for most whites to acknowledge their white privilege because it is part and parcel of their identity. Some of them are well intentioned but just imagine being raised knowing that your race facilitated 99% of modern civilization. You open a history book and read page after page how your ancestors dominated the colored races. Wouldn’t you feel something prideful stir up inside? Of course you would. Then you would take a quick look at Africa and see how “bonobos” live…meeen! Your pride and superiority complex would shoot right through outer space.

What I’m saying is that it’s not easy for these whites to face the ugliness of their racial heritage and now “the other” chickens are coming home to roost. The coloreds want a piece of the pie which means that something has to give. If we’re ever going to make inroads arresting racial bigotry at its source and recruiting white allies, we must give them psychological space to undo this cancerous virus which infects their brains.

Being forceful and demanding will just make them retreat further into their shells. We also need to increase awareness so that white parents can stop raising the Amy coopers and Derek Chauvins of this world.

I love everyone, blacks, whites, yellows, purples…we are all equal in the eyes of God.

Siku gani? We are protected by the blood of Jesus.

This would be great if it wasn’t coming from someone who, in the same breath, says that AAs are irredeemable and makes dindu nuffin jokes. Karen gets 20 second chances. AAs get none.

The big problem that makes the issue of racism become this violent/reactionary is the lazy approach people place on addressing social issues. All many people care about is money: I want a job/own a business, I want a car, I want to consume, I want the best education(schools) for my kids, I want good healthcare for my family, I want to move up the class ladder, I want to achieve Maslow’s pyramid(many never reach self-actualization though). In this they ignore issues like racism(“I found it here I don’t think I can solve it”) or develop ‘manuals’ on dealing with people('e.g fake smiling, how to deal with police when black or the ‘cancel culture’).
They don’t solve anything, unless they learn to educate people on these issues.

Her crime is more pernicious than it appears on the surface. She was falsely claiming assault; gunning for an innocent man to go to court then jail on a false claim of assault. Every time a woman lies that a man has assaulted her or falsely claims she has been raped, not only does the man lose his job, he is jailed. For nothing. This man would have been in jail as we speak, if it were not for the video. That punishment she got is nothing. She should be in prison for the same number of years the guy she falsely accused would have been in for, if her lies had not been exposed.

Cooper shouldn’t feel sorry for her.

That woman wouldn’t have a conscience problem if she could fake being raped by a black man and get away with it.

No one should be defined by words, but it will be outright double standards and hypocrisy when it is applied to ine race and not another.
I feel that you need to use your admirable scientific background to read into history, especially on cases where just words led to the lives of many blacks coming to an end…literally.
Go read on how a whistle from Emmett Till led to his death and how he was killed.
Go read about the 1921 Tulsa Massacre.
Read about the 1923 Rosewood Massacre
Just those three for now.
Words don’t come out simply because they are words or in the heat of the moment. Words are an expression of an individual’s state of mind and anger is the grand stage meant to express their hidden feeling to a topic/person.
So, they are not just words. No one speaks for the sake of speaking.

Forget about the theory of life, and get a life! This is it! Patriarchal thinking and hegemony serves a real minuscule purpose. Yes! In my books I advocate for love. Fcuk them and they will love love you! And you need not learn a thing about them. Just fuck them!

Something very curious I discovered recently on a talk show on You Tube. One of the talking heads was a British personality(media or something) he says that he was very surprised to discover that African soldiers fought in WW2. He said that none of that is taught in school. So the misrepresentation of facts is deliberate. This means that unless this “White” system is overthrown… Overthrow implies violence. Whether it happens now or in the near future. America WILL descend into Civil War. It will be a race war. It will implode that country. They will have to re engineer their society. The rest of us should pay close attention to societal rifts. Especially inequality and injustice.

Even Jesus says that the tongue speaks from the abundance of the heart. You are right. There is truth in what you say. The issue is more complex but hujakosea hapo.

Valid point. She has hate in her heart.

But do you love them the same?

Forget about masquerading “purple”…She is fake!
