Christianity needs a caliph/Ezekiel mutua/moderator/admin.........etc

I consider myself a staunch Christian yet I rarely go to church.God has answered most of my prayers and am thankful for all He has done/not done/in the process of doing for me.we Christians have adopted a laissez-faire attitude on the workings of our religion which has resulted into confusion, con pastors, whack gospel music and the slow but ironically acceptable collapse of moral standards in our society.churches have become platforms for political mudslinging, businesses, kusafisha macho zones, fisi playgrounds… I wish we had proper structures that could police"Christianity"or some kind of order like the other religions that the Kenyan constitution recognizes ie Islam and Hinduism.Sundays are now the most noise polluted day of the week thanks to spreading of the gospel exercise by my fellow Christians.

I was exposed to a lot of religion stuff at a tender age because of my parents work.we were not religious, we just had to attended mass at random churches and mosques in order to justify donors money expenditure. They worked for an NGO that fosters good relations between christians and Muslims.

The lack of order in Christianity is alarming. Every tom dik and harry can easily form a church, perport to perform miracles, give themselves titles like prophets, doctors… And it’s perfectly legal .because no one in kenya questions anyone who God’s servant.

I sometimes go to random churches for the sake of it.one of my memorable moments were in a legio maria church. It was basically a luo-nized Catholic church ,only difference was the colourful gowns(each colour represented a prophet), Africanization of biblical characters and the over emphasis of exorcition of demons over reading the Bible. They even have a little pilgrimage to some hill in nyanza where allegedly their Messiah aka ondeto was buried.I was kicked out when I questioned the lack of proper reading of scriptures and the obvious worship of images of founders of the sect, mary ,and biblical prohets by pastors during mass. Which i felt was blasphamous.

I later joined some "ministry"a church in a residential area in some informal settlement. Big PA system ,one pastor/CEO/bishop and his two translators would cheer up my random Sundays with their struggle with osungu dll. Luo dll.and kiswahili dll.for some strange reason the pastors felt he had to preach in English and his minions translated to kiswahili, the other to luo yet we were only 30 people, all Kenyans, all dim eyes.prosperity gospel was turbocharged. I was even requested to bring along my Ampex 2.1 subwoofer 10000watts pmpo to help boost the already too loud pa system in the church. I gave up ,these days I just pray in my house silently.

Happy Sunday ktalkers…

“But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.”
Matthew6:6NIV

When a wildebeest has been hunted and killed by a lion; eventually the scene becomes one of chaos. All sort of cacophonous creatures, vultures, hyenas start to gather hoping for a piece of meat. The life of Christ is the “meat of the matter” so it’s up to you as a Christian to get into the life of it. Make sure you don’t caught up or distracted by the vultures and hyenas who feast on leftovers.
