CINEMA IN KENYAS ABOUT TO BITE THE DUST

#1
Monday nilisema wacha niende hapo garden city kuona movie, for the uninitiated, on Mondays it is when they charge the lowest (400) popcorn inclusive. the first sign that things are bad there was only one counter open, usually they are like 5/6 counters za kubuy tickets & snacks. My showing was at 4:45 and I arrived a bit early. so was chilling for the movies that started at 2pm to end I guess it was Croods for the dolby atmos theatre and wonder Woman for the IMAX one sasa nimechill hapo waiting area expecting a crowd of people to come out lakini wapi ! Only like 8 people came out most of them Chinese / Asian origin.

sasa nimeingia kwa cinema kucheki "the Marksman' and hakuna mtu I'm all alone and the place is dark and silent as a library saa hizo simu ilizima, with nothing to do, I counted the speakers in the Dolby atmos theatre, they total 50, 24 Overhead, 36 surrounds (left, right, rear) anyway 5 mins before the movie starts and the projector comes on, some few aga khan ads and few trailers later, only 4 other people have joined. In short Movie tuliona watu watano and its fucking 5PM! supposed to be prime time

and to add salt to injury HBO cut a deal with Warner Bros whereby Movies premier sameday both on streaming & Cinema and some other studios are doing it too kama Disney and how they released Soul

This I Guess is a small sample size to draw a conclusion but 5 people is alarming ?

Wacha movie boss, just check what’s happening at the National Theater. I was there last Saturday for Poetry Slam and was really impressed.

I would rather watch live performance in the theaters than movies....

Ile gym iko TRM wanalipa rent na nini and they've been closed from March?
Those fuckers told me I couldn't use their facility since they are past membership capacity and have to wait for 3 months (this was in late January 2020)
Tried reasoning with the arrogant prick, explaining to her that am willing to train mchana when there's virtually no people since most guys come either morning or evening...
The rest as they say....

The hollywood movie business has survived a century plus of operations. They have weathered far worse than corona.

Their theatre franchises have been thrown of countries...

They have survived world wars where theatres were bombed and completely destroyed...

They have survived world economic crashes....

They were hounded by the FBI as communists for decades....

This is a resilient trade made up of resilient fighters.

People are apparently scared of covid they think movie theatres are crowded but just across the road wamejazana kwa club kama mchwa..... once this selective phobia of covid imeisha they will back to normal..... same thing is happening in churches.
Kwa theatre kuna throat sanitizer konyagi, blue ice, rider, piston, napoleon or keg? Ghaseer Mason.
