Colonialism had many effects (good and bad) upon different colonies. These effects range from technology to (an almost irreversible) loss of self esteem. One of the good effect was reading and writing which, in my opinion, was the ONLY positive result of colonialism. Everything else, including technology, health, education etc, would have eventually worked out fine without their ‘help’.
When we allowed ourselves (our forefathers) to adapt our coloniser’s advanced culture, we shot ourselves in the foot. Any lawyer can tell you there are millions of agreements and contracts that were/are signed that very few know of. The colonies’ founding fathers might have secretly sold their respective countries without our knowledge only that the period of lease is not up yet. When that lease shall expire, ladies and gentlemen, we shall then see the judgement day we are threatened about on Sundays and Saturdays.
