I’m I the only one whose power bills have hit the roof ama tuko wengi. A few months ago 1000 kshs would buy me 66 units. Now, 1500 Kshs is getting me 67 units.

I think that you use more or close to 100 units a month. Mine was high (48 units for 1k) but after using less than 50 units a month, I get 67 units for 1k.

The electricity billing is structured such that if you use less than 100 units per month then your tariff is the 10sh/unit. For more than 100 units per month you get charged 15 sh/unit. Normally they take your three month average and if it jumps over the 100 unit per month mark your tarriff rate jumps from 10 to15 sh/unit.

A basic 1 bedroom house with a hotshower and a fridge consumes around ksh 2000 a month, especially now when kids are around.

Hiyo kadogo economy yako is more expensive than running a fridge. Tangu nioneshwe place Saika nyama 1Kg is 300sh, my local butcherman huona nikama nimekuwa vegeterian. My guess is that you buy at 420-450 a kg. 5kgs a month you save 750. Na bado sijaingia vegetables etc.
