I am planning to set up rentals for singles and doubles i.e. 10 singles and 10 doubles after securing 1/2 acre plot in a small center western part of Kenya that attracts singles and doubles which is mainly attributed to the purchase power within the area.
I am seeking advice on the approximate cost of setting up such units and some of the challenges I might experience. I accepted that Nairobi and its satellite towns are gone and I don’t see myself investing on those ‘Ka plots’ 50*100 being advertised by unscrupulous real estate companies in Kajiado yet they are zoned not to be divided below certain acreage

I did some bedsitters, about 8 units, spent close to a million in approvals and the everything else. As an engineer, budget for around a million, to get around 15 singles/doubles. Rent per single is around 2500 while a double is 3500. Do your maths. The downside is iko majamaa uhama usiku na matress pekee.
If you are below 35 years, wacha hii upuzi ya kujenga rentals. Returns are very minimal. Weka pesa yako kwa fiashara and save. Ukigonga 40 years anza sasa kujenga ndio upate unga ya retirement.
