[SIZE=4]Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is demanding close to a £17million pay hike to stay with the Spanish giants.
According to Sport, the Portuguese forward has made it clear to Real’s hierarchy that he wants monetary parity with Barcelona rival Lionel Messi or he will leave.
Ronaldo earns £18.6m a year at the Santiago Bernabeu but wants those figures to rise to £35.5m.
The publication adds that this is because of the salary that Messi earns at the Nou Camp following his recently signed deal.
Ronaldo has been left frustrated by Real president Florentino Perez who has stalled on offering him an improved contract.
Reports in Spain have said that the 32-year-old was promised one after spearheading Real to a La Liga and Champions League double last season.
That hasn’t materialised and Ronaldo feels undervalued, citing this as a reason for his goalscoring woes at the moment.
Ronaldo, who has been linked with a return to Manchester United, signed his current five-year contract - which runs until 2021 - in November 2016.
At 32 years old he’s in his last years as an excellent player.
A few years from now it will be downhill all the way, then MLS soccer, then retirement.

Pure BS…Ronaldo is 32 and is on a steady decline with 4 la liga goals to his name this season and he expects Madrid to almost double his salary (LMFAO). Which club in their right mind would do that shit? I saw an article where 70% of the interviewed Madrid fans want him out.
It is also outright disrespectful to both United and Madrid how every time he threatens to leave for United any time Madrid ignore his childish tantrums.
And even then he’s a poor striker, Ronaldo’s main attribute was his strength ans speed as opposed to Messi’s talent and intelligence and as a result, as Ronaldo grows older, it is becoming increasingly difficult for him to maintain his level of play.
The guy deserves it. He is a big celebrity who is used more than any player in Real’s marketing campaigns and commands one of the largest following in the world.
For those saying he only has 4 la liga goals kumbuka he does have 9 champion league goals already and the later is a larger(in terms of viewership) and more prestigious tournament.
Let’s wait and see…as far as Champions League is concerned, I believe Real have reached end of road with their match up against PSG and Barcelona is 19 points ahead of them in La Liga so I don’t see them coming back. Ronaldo is in the twilight of his career so I don’t see him regaining his form.
