Cucu wa Gakunga was originally written by a guy called DeMura, he dedicated the song to her for raising him when he lost both his parents when still a toddler, DeMatthew was his homeboy, akaiba hio song and the rest is history, DeMura is a bitter man to date.
This is nonsense. DeMethew is a second generation user of this song. Those of us old enough to have heard it fresh off the vinyl-press (not cassette) know that it was written and sung by John Ndichu in the 70s.
The original was even followed by a sequel after Cucu passed away.
Wah! Each response brings us deeper into your musical family…
The big question now is, why would 99.9% of the available versions credit john Ndichu and not your enigmatic uncle, and why do they say that Ndichu was singing about his grandmother and not your uncle’s grandma?

DeMethew was not born in 1978, or he was a very young boy. How old is uncle DeMura?
You read this part? I had mixed up their names. My uncle and Ndichu grew up together, I don’t know the exact details of how the song ended up being recorded by Ndichu, but everyone in the family knows it’s DeMura that composed that song as a dedication to his grandmother, then again, itakuwaje nyanya wa mamangu atakuwa nyanyake Ndichu na Ndichu hajatoka kwa mbarì ya kina mother?
When you decide to lie, plan carefully. Ati now Ndichu and ‘compser’ De Mura grew up together, but @mayekeke - a blood relative - confused Ndichu and DeMethew, his much younger admirer and imitator?
