just get a laptop, achana Na desktop. You can then do your work anywhere: home, friends office, Uhuru park, kwa train ya SGR, kwa mat, Java coffee house e.t.c
I would look in the direction of a refurbished box that you can install ubuntu on. You will get all that and more. For free.
