Developing an app

What is the average cost of developing a decent app? I know it depends on the features of the app but can anybody estimate the cost?

I want to hire somebody to develop an app - an app that is user friendly with no hanging issues.

calc ama

that is like asking what is the cost of a car?
can be as low as 100k to 25m

app can be as low as 10k and as high as 1m… features matter alot…
-complexity
-number of features
-is there a server back-end for administration?
-Android or IOS or both?

Anyway been more specific and maybe i already have it in full,

if you just want an app, just have a minimum budget of 5k

THE MOST IMPORTANT IS THE SECURITY OF THE APP. IS IT ONE THAT CAN TAKE A HACKER JUST ONE DAY TO LEARN ITS WEAK ENTRY POINTS? HERE YOU INVEST WELL THAT IS WHERE I COME IN

Of course , but those are call non-functional specs, they are assumed to be in the specs without even being mentioned.

you dont assume bruh. Apps like branch and such ones for requesting loans or any app that will require peoples peronal details has to be reinforced isiwe na so many loopholes for hackers

What about an app like Uber which pins down your location. Something that intergrates a payment service (lipa na M-pesa). Also, a back-end for adminstration. Ofcourse, it must be both iOS and Android.

You don’t understand the word “assume”, its an assumption that an app will be developed as secure, reliable, maintainable, Scalable etc
i was saying security is not a functional system feature, its a non-functional feature.
what you are talking about in the loan apps is called “credit scoring” …and that is a functional feature…

After getting the user location? what way will it utilize the data?

Might suggest some key things to put in mind when costing your app:

[ol]
[li]Choice of technology to be used.[/li]
[li]Here you’ll need to consume some 3-rd party APIs, development libraries and SDKs which will be used for both the Android & iOS apps. Complexity will be factor here[/li][/ol]
[li]Infrastructure in use[/li][ol]
[li]Talk of things like your hosting environment when the app goes to production for use. So tools like AWS or any cloud server for serving your application back-ends/back-office and databases, developer consoles for the application stores on Apple and Android, SMS integrations and subscriptions etc[/li][/ol]
[li]Labor and earning potential for your developers. Compared to Android, iOS devs are not easy to find especially for short-term projects, most are engaged full-time. The manhours for each of the devs who will work on these 2 apps will need to be factored in your budgets. Probably pay them an agreed sum or by their hourly rates.[/li]
