digital vs smart

which is better? buying a smart tv or buying a digital and buying an android box for it? someone told me the android box has so many more channels to offer. Do you pay monthly for the content? what are the advantages and disadvantages of either?

The right question should be, “should I buy smart non-AndroidTV one?” Yes. Good luck finding a digital-only recent model (unless kwa 32" level)

Smart tvs are just digitals on speed, they can do more in regards to connecting to the internet hence expensive. With a box you can access more in the internet world. I’ve hooked up my old tv to a dongle and i see more than in the smart, for example, vipindi za baba hazionekani poa kwa smart, too much redirections, even kodi has no method available for installing directly on smart tv(samsung) because samsung runs on is Tizen OS,sijui about hizo zingine but naskia kuna za android kina sony, hisense, philips and sharp,Tizen is not supported by kodi …besides ,with smart tv you are within 6-8gb of space whilst the box is expandable to 300. But its all about taste in regards to,curved,borderless,touch/voice remote, camera…

Sony A9G ,philips 8O3,sony X950G comes in 55,hisense iko hadi 80 wachana na greatwall, von, sqny na kina ikon hizo ata 10inch wanauza mingi

Sorry, mimi ni analog kidogo. How can I add apps in my Samsung smart TV. Eg, dstv now? I can do Netflix well, but nataka zingine. Their browser is just bullshit. Ama hio Tizen unasema iko restricted.

You buy both the smart TV and the android box. Android box, I strongly recommend the Safaricom Internet and TV box.

These TVs are smart, what do you mean?

what is the point of buying a smart one if with a cheaper digital one, you just need that setbox and you’re good to go?

dstv now use this link in your browser

Digital TV = dumb TV.
You will buy the smart TV for it’s features such as screen mirroring. Some smart tvs take screen shots, some have Bluetooth capabilities, and there are even others that have cameras! Those are features that are not, at all, for the digital TV.

Yep,tizen is kidogo sheet, theres mostly russian streamers and some nature streaming apps.Tried sky and rt news ikakataa, alafu pia memory ni kidogo. Google samsung apps alafu uangalie kama iko compatible na make yako

They are android OS smart,so you have a wide range of settings and they come in bigger sizes besides 40 and below

I’m aware they have Android TV OS :D:D. Did you misunderstand me or something? I said “good luck finding any digital-only recent model.” I meant digital, not smart :). Pure digital TVs without smart software only exist at around 40" and below.

Do they also network lock their Android boxes?

Technically, no. Only the cellular network is locked to Safaricom. You will connect to whichever other WiFi network you are using. Best thing about the box is that it is also a dvbt2 receiver and a WiFi router!

Clearly thats what the guy is referencing to and i implied that there are smart and non smart tvs (some non smart come with an inbuilt wifi conectivity FYI )which can be hooked to a smart device to “make it look smart”. My argument, contrary to yours sir,is that “non smart” tvs do infact come in sizes up to 80 inches, some sets come from lesser-known brands, such as Seiki, Onn,Sceptre and RCA . Samsung 7 Series NU7100 comes at 65 inches and its non smart, iko pale luthuli, our boy’s luck aint dried up yet sir on digital only tvs if he wants one

This was a 2018 model. Since then, 2019 RU and 2020 TU have received a smart boost and no digital alternatives. I agree with you though, if he wants a non-smart tv, he’ll have to look for non-mainstream brands (which could be risky due to panel performance). Otherwise, he should get older Sammy and LG models (Samsung: N-2018, M-2017, K-2016. LG: K-2018, J-2017, H-2016).
