Nas is known to have been lazy at the studio. Typically artists will write a song, then go back and rework/reword it in studio. Until it sounds right. It’s can take 5 minutes to several hours or days. Check Kanye’s documentary you can get a glimpse. Someone like Eminem makes a song on cd, then goes to test it in his factory car speakers which have no correction. If it doesn’t sound right there, he remakes the song. But several producers who worked with Nas says he was a one shot does it all. First take, that was it. The guys were shocked. He is a industry under achiever.
