In such situations they require only the mothers to go for DNA tests, precisely because they want to avoid such embarrassments.

Why only mothers? Did they impregnate themselves?

What I meant is, in such situations, it is advisable for mothers to present themselves for DNA testing. This shields the fathers from the double whammy of being informed that your daughter, the one you loved with all your heart and recently lost, wasn’t your biological daughter. With mothers we’re 100% sure, unless maybe the baby was switched at birth.

Understood but I’d still want to know; maybe have all the other kids tested as well. You don’t eat to go through that twice.
