Do husbands suppress wives' career growth?

Is it me seeing differently? Why is it that single women are the one thriving most? I will give example – Martha Karua, Minji minji, Wangari Maathai, Ngilu. This is just but to mention a few.

I have a case study where a friend of mine* left her husband. Started by being an Administrator in Government offices but now she sits in Boardrooms where she serves as director and is a Deputy CEO of a parastatal. She is very sure that if she is still with her husband, she wouldn’t be where she is.

Question – Do men suppress their wives’ progress? For the married, Where is your wife from where you found her in Career growth, grabbing of opportunities, etc. I am not talking of how much she has procreated, no.

Mawazo tu.

Both of my parents are senior lecturers. It is not the husband who restricts the woman…but the women who lacks ambition. Most just want to be provided for but when no one is around to support them, then they have to fend for themselves.
With that said there are those situations where the men try and dominate their wives which is wrong.
The other things is when children come into the picture we all know women are the primary care givers. The have to look after the child as the man works and that can affect their careers.

Ama ni nyinyi huwa na short term goals hamjui kujipanga kiendelezi(trying my swa out even though am coasterian nini ulimi kamusi nilipoteza kwa check in).I was raised by a single mom and also raised by a mother(grandma) married with five kids(complicated manenos)…and won’t lie my mum has reached granny stages and hawako league moja…plus also add the pressure ya kuwa ka singo matha and you get why they are motivated than one who gets to have some comfort of a partner in crime entangled for life thus involuntary yapping about the man and they forget they had dream themselves…

Ambition should be nurtured. Kama mtu alioa kunguru shida yake. Case in point Shebesh na the husband saa hii unless nominated wako in political oblivion.

I see what you mean. Ambition is paramount.

Children is the answer. From my perspective and observation in the society, when children are all grown, women don’t give a damn about their husbands but now try to bond more with their grown children ,and that’s the time most cultivate their career projections. Case in point, all those women you have mentioned there have grown up children, where are their husbands.? Remember doctor Margaret Wanjiru? Women even from the village loves flashy lifestyle when given a chance. lesson for us men, save for your retirement and time for saving is now.

Depends what does that career bring, politicians are your examples or people connected to politicians. na in Kenya we know anything connected to politician ni_________ tupe other example please

I think women suppress their own ambitions when they are married. I used to work with a lady who turned down a promotion because she was certain it would rock the boat at home. The husband at the time had been out of work for a year or so and had consistently gained interest in her working hours - time she would get home. The new position demanded more hours and more travel. She chose her family.

Did your dad encourage her to be his match? Or was it her initiative to compete with him? Will be better if your dad is not in the picture?

I have said this before, If they feel marriages suppress their growth then wenye wameoleka watoke kwa mabwana zao and those not married wasioleke. Maisha ni yao and society nowadays portrays Men as the number one enemy to women. Let them do what they want.

Reason why men die fast after retirement. Nature favours men in all means except old age.
