This news reminds me of when I was in high school. It was believed that blood donated in some girls schools were contaminated with HIV and syphilis. I almost jumped out of my skin when I read the latest report from The Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service (KNBTS) https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/health/article/2001258135/donated-blood-has-hiv-syphilis-report-shows Seems most people don’t know their status!
I started donating blood in high school for the love of 1/2 litre sprite and half a loaf of bread. It has never changed, I need that energy, I need to give back to the society again. When was the last time you gave out blood?
We once donated blood in high school and after one week i pulled a prank on the other donors. I took out a paper and wrote down names of those who had donated leaving out some. After reading the list in the dining hall before supper, nikasema kama hujaskia jina lako jua your blood was suspect, saa hio nimevaa sura ya kazi. Few days later the blood certificates came back. Mine wasnt there! I cried that night in the darkness like a baby. Two days later two more certificates came. Kumbe kuna jamaa tulikua tunaumia pamoja. Ati the blood were needed urgently and thus ikasahaulika kutengenezewa certs. Felt like hugging that dry-fryable lady
Saw that article today but even the researchers disowned it. I guess someone was trying to push an agenda, like trying to get some meds into the country and that’d be the warrant, of cource with some lobbying.
