ELOG Lauds Polls

The Elections Observation Group ELOG has lauded Thursday repeat president election saying it meets the threshold of a credible poll despite the harsh environment the electoral body IEBC was operating in.

According to ELOG, in 215 out of 290 constituencies where their observers were based only 4.8% of the Electronic voter Identification devices (EVIDS) failed in the polling stations with the voters being identified alphanumerically.

Further In 86% of these stations the secrecy of the ballot was not violated. The group also noted that ballot papers were stamped with IEBC official stamp before being issued in 99.6% of the polling stations.

In the transmission of results, 99.6% of the polling stations observed the presiding officer properly sign and stamped the presidential results form 34As with 94.8% of the stations sending the forms through the KIEMS kit and receiving a confirmation message.

The Observers however cited pockets of insecurity which it said infringed on the rights of voters willing to participate or boycott the exercise.

The observers are now calling on the Inspector General of police Joseph Boinett to implement a raft of measures in ensuring sanity during the polling period countrywide.

IEBC has called off Saturday’s repeat presidential election in Nyanza region citing security concerns.

The postponement announced by IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati at the Bomas of Kenya on Friday evening will affect some 24 constituencies in the counties on Kisumu, Migori, Siaya and Homa Bay.

The election was slated for Saturday after polling failed to kickoff Thursday after supporters of the National Super Alliance took to the streets to protest disrupting transportation of polling materials in the affected counties.

Chebukati stated that “some IEBC staff were attacked and hijacked” and had to seek refuge from police stations.

“When the RO’s (returning officers) and polling staff’s lives are in danger, as a commission, we are deeply concerned. And because of all these factors, the commission has deliberated on the various incidences in parts of the country and has postponed the election scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday, to be announced at a later date,” he said.

Raila Doctrine will once again come to play, unless he wins that wasn’t a credible observation

CNN is the propaganda arm of the NRM. They are spewing so much garbage and telling the gospel according to Raila and his minions!

Still a sham in the eyes of RAT.

Yeah, coz he didn’t win and Kenyans were forced to vote against their will

No, I watched a clip of the government spokesman robustly destroy babuon’s claims unless CNN has stopped playing that clip.

Raila right now is wishing we could go back to October 25th

I saw it. But from the questions that lady was posing to Esipisu, you can deduce where their beliefs are! They are not questions. They are statements. Sentiments!

Of course governments are not trusted the world over, so this is normal

I’ve been fielding calls this morning from concerned American friends of mine, because of what’s being shown on the news. Gosh, we are looking really really bad on the international scene. :(:frowning:

Okay.

Funny that she reproduces JaKuinist gibberish about KIEMS as evidence. Doesn’t CNN double check his effdens?

CNN is always an anti-establishment media, so they’ll agree more with the opposition

Here I blame jubilee. Uhuru has very incompetent spin doctors, that is if he has any

As long as he is in/the govt and in Africa, international media will always be skeptical of what he says

Once CNN had the Jakuonist garbage exposed, they have resorted to clinging onto to just one of out of several of Chebukati’s tweets. Nonetheless Chebukati has come out and clarified what he stated. The greater question is why are CNN not asking IEBC before they spread more Jakuonist garbage. As ELOG confirmed in their statement, over 40% of polling stations had voters in line as of 5pm.

If there’s a profession with dunderheads ni journalism

But Chebukati to me appears as very naive, reckless and extremely fearful…hope the IEBC role will give him more courage in the future

Chebukati has zero leadership qualities. The way he helped NASA bully chiloba and his response to evil akombe sneaking out put me off him completely
