The cellular services company which was popular around 2008 to 2014 therabouts closed and a lot of its infrastructure was bought out by both Saf and Airtel. Is there anyone with work history at Essar or knows someone who worked there? Big question is what happened to the staff/employees and did the company itself morph into something else albeit lowkey?
When they pulled out, Safcom bought out their infrastructure (to boost their own network) while Airtel bought out its subscribers (approx. 2m) (to boost their own numbers).
Also, as part of the deal, Airtel agreed to absorb the kitu 200 employees…
But employees being absorbed as part of a Merger/ Acquisition deal has never been an arrangement kind to said employees… All that Airtel wanted was the subscribers and they really had no room for the Yu staff at Parkside Towers… I can bet you my last penny that those You guys were frustrated/ performance-managed out within 12-24 months…
The technical staff (engineers) were absorbed together with the infrastructure by safaricom. Airtel was only interested on the subscribers
@Unataka kujua ili? Know one who was in HR dept in Essar was absorbed into safcon. Last time we talked was very frustrated by safcon jangili policies
