Ethernet over coaxial cables

Wadau,

I’m looking to distribute internet kwa residential building over existing coaxial cables. TV signal is currently terrestrial combined with satellite by a multiswitch. I want to add internet to the combined signal. I’ve googled a bit and the below youtube video looks like it could be a solution (using an ethernet to coax modem). Thoughts? Anyone done something similar or know where I can buy ethernet to coax modems?

Its doable but you will deliver the worst speed possible.

Maybe even slower than Smoke Signals.

Do you know anyone who has done this? Coax cables are actually underrated. Do you have links that show this would deliver “the worst speed possible”

Shida ni ma router sina support hio coaxial

Yeah, from asking around, looks to be a hustle. Not only is it a more complicated method, it’s also more expensive (with the coax routers also not widely available). Looks like it’ll be cheaper and easier to just run twisted pair cables on the building exterior (something I was trying to avoid).

check out cable-modems. They use coaxial.

Restricted WiFi?

It’s doable. Coaxial cables are used in BUS networks, however they need special adapters since you can’t terminate them on rj45
