I think it's about time we open up our skyline to real budget airlines. Jambo jet most expensive one way ticket used to be sh5900 from MSA to NBO and vice versa

the highest price for late bookers used to be sh 5900,,one way
You must have gotten it all wrong. Right from inception, late travellers use to pay over 10k.I remember folks who couldn't understand the pricing raising a storm and the Jambo jet management patiently explaining the logic behind.

Therein lies the problem. For an airline struggling to break even, the last thing they should disadvantage themselves with is to adopt a pricing strategy that eventually will elbow them out of the market. KQ has been having problems filling their flights. Why not be proactive and adopt a different pricing strategy that ensures volumes. To me, it is silly for one to adopt measures that ensure that you fly a nearly empty plane just because last minute passenger are unable to afford your tickets.

That is exactly my thinking. Very few people are able to plan their trip for days or weeks ahead unless its vacation. Most travel is business/work related which is usually in short notice. Jambo jet looses this business to competitors who include road because they simply see no advantage in using them since its expensive. I flew them sometime and what struck me were the empty seats. I myself had all the seats near me to myself. And so were many other passengers. Yet were you to go to the busses evwn those charging a premium they are ever full because travelling is an inevitable human activity just like sex. The people i pitied most were the air hostess charged with the duty of selling snacks and drinks to passengers. That my friend is one undignifying job. Its basically hawking with the stress of pushing that heavy cart amid turbulence and the hassle of seeking customer change. I found it a silly and cheap strategy also. For that fare they can afford to provide a bottle of water or a canned soda and a small packet of nuts to every passenger. Maximum cost is only 100 bob. KQ management is truly fucked up.
