move for the Kenyan market. eSims. Faiba 4G now offers support for eSims, so if you have a smartphone that supports eSims, you can easily get the Faiba network to run on your phone without actually attaching a physical SIM card. Yes, your iPhone could soon be a dual SIM kinda phone.
eSim is short for an Embedded Subscriber Identity Module, or simply an Embedded SIM card. For a while now, many manufacturers (both Android and iPhones) have had eSIMs within their devices. So for markets, like the US where customers are attached to both their phone and the carrier, instead of having to remove SIM cards when changing carriers, all you need to do is change the SIM profile. So with an eSIM, all you need is some profile settings, and you’re ready to use the new network. Mainly such profile settings are provided by the carrier in form of a QR code you scan.
This comes in handy for many people who may purchase an eSIM when traveling or for business purposes. But in a country where we are used to dual SIM cards, we may at first find it confusing. However, with an eSIM, ideally your single-SIM iPhone, iPad, Android Phone or tablet can finally support dual SIM cards. And yes, ideally if your dual SIM Android phone has an eSIM, you can have three networks at once on your phone, like with Samsung’s S20 Ultra. However, the OS limits you to only two SIM cards working at the same time.
Does safaricom, Airtel or telkom offer esim?
One of the reasons iphone has never been an option for me was lack of dual sim support. This will make it an option now. If only there is support from the major networks
Modern iPhones have dual sim variants. All other local don’t do esim because, in my opinion, it ain’t that so necessary. The technology is totally useless in Kenya , as for now. As, said above, the phones with the capability are too rare and too expensive for consumers to just change their phones
I think JTL did this for bragging rights or, perhaps, for gimmickry rather than for anything else. As you know, Faiba is a 4g only sim only available in just a number of major towns and in just a few areas in those towns. Not to mention that band 28 is not so common and you require some special settings to avail it on your smartphone, if at all it has the capability
:D:rolleyes: Kama uko hii kikundi yetu ya peasant sema tu. Usieke excuse, iPhone 11 and 12 offer dual sim. Ndio hii just in case hio pesa iko :D:D
Now you know. Anyway you learn something new everyday
Hapana. Faiba iko affordable boss. Haiezi kuwa mora affordable than it is currently. I think @Electronics4u meant that Faiba lately has been crappy. Hata mimi nilikuwa nikitumia Faiba. Pre corona last year hapo March, April it was good. Saa hii ni mbovu sana.
Hao watu ni meffi,if they can’t support customer on what i consider a normal technology,ni hiyo ya eSim wataweza.
Let them work on their customer care first
