For those with queries about the trouble with GDI and all DI engines

y’all know the hatorade on GDI a direct injection petrol engine that was expanded by mitsubishi especially in their origina shark-mouth Galant (arguably te best car design of our times, shapewise). The technology is an adaptation of the diesel engine to the petrol one where injectors are used to spray fuel in the cylinder when air compression has started taking place.
The modified technology was shipped back to the diesel engine as DI-D in mitsubishi. Other carmakers embraced the technology now generally known as DI(direct injection) with toyota coming up with the D4 engine, mercedes baptised theirs CGI and CDI (D for diesel), and vw celebrated FSI engne. VW went a step further and stratified (the S in fSi) the injection of fuel at different stages of the compression stroke, the first spray cooled the air in the cylinder ,the second was sprayed in the compressed air before the spark plug performed its duty. Anyway, here is a forum I came across on the gdi engine and how to maintain it. Interesting comment that caught me is that some guys recommend and use diesel oil in their gdi. Word is that mitsubishi realized that the gdi is not giving that much difference in fuel consumption and the headache that is maintenance due to the recycling of NOX gases, fuel that is not burnt is recycled back to the cylinder and this causes te deposit of carbon on the valves that results in the all common gdi engine rattle, misses and knocks. The good guys at mitsubishi decided to concentrate on the MIVEC engine and sold off the gdi technology to Hyundai (heheheee ule jamaa wa red hyundai nyahururu ako wapi?). The argument hapa ni kama za Maraga is combustion a process or event? (heheheee not really like that) but to achieve efficient do you focus on recycling or improving power output (voting or transmission?). Anyway when we talk of carbon deposits it is this serious mbisha ndio hii 1) valves, 2) porthttp://forums.trinituner.com/upload/data/08/valves.jpg http://forums.trinituner.com/upload/data/c2/valves4.jpg

That kind of deposit is nothing nice. I always never had an issue with gdi engines.
I think voting (power) without subsequent transfer (transmission) need to work together.

How did you deal with the carbon deposit issue?

i bt thts y una patanga gari ile moshi ina towa nikama chimney ya local motive ya kuni… due to clogin ama?!!

Yeah and the rattle due to thecarbon on valves and ports

I normally clean with carb cleaner. But you have to take things apart. I don’t believe in spraying as the car is idling.
Toa. Spray. Shinisha. Rudisha. Furahi.

Nice info because 2 cousins who’ve owned Mitsubishi Galant & Cedia told me hio GDI iko na issues.
Ps: Hio picha ya port inakaa sura ya owl(freakish)

After what intervals does it need cleaning?

20k km si mbaya. Or a year and a half.

Sio mbaya. I’m thinking of buying one for vanity’s sake and stealth mode raving. Most napata ni gdi hence the research

Ouch!!

Seen the same locally. Some of the synthetic oils available are used in both diesel and petrol engines.

In this they recommend oils for diesel engines because gdi is a diesel technology, their oils usually have cleaning agents for the injectors

hello guys, can some one refer me to D4 engines specialist… have Allion with D4 engine and it needs some serious service

Serious service ndiyo ipi?

ile mechanic hacheki na kazi, anaweka sura ya mawe
