FTA

Hi all,

I acquired this make for a t.v, http://www.lg.com/ae/tvs/lg-49UH617V-TB-uhd-tv , and have a couple of issues I need your advice on:

  1. Since it’s DVB T2/C/S2, I feel it’s not necessary to obtain an FTA decoder?

  2. I have an 80cm offset dish. Which is the best locally available LNB I can acquire for use with it? And where can I purchase it in Nairobi?

  3. Which satellite(s) should I aim at for best results?

  4. Any other components I should add?switches, cables e.t.c?

Thanks good people.

  1. Vile guru @Luther12 husema, hiyo tv haina options mingi kama vile decode yaweza kupa. You will only be able to watch channels that are FTA. Those that needs keys to unlock you won’t watch. I know I’ll be stoned by team strong lakini tafuta freesat V7. Ongea na @muzombozi

  2. @Meria Mata njoo umark hili jibu. Pauxis for fringe reception, inverto black na iyo ingine maguru wataongezea. Alafu depends whether the satelite is Ku band or C band

  3. INTELSAT 7/10 at 68.5 Deg East, PAKSAT 1 @ 38 deg East lakini ni C band, NILESAT 101 @ 7 deg west ku band, NSS 7 @ 22 deg west both C band and Ku band, kuna ingine iko pale 36 degrees east. Ona maguru wakueleze zaidi

  4. DiseqC switch

@imei2012 njoo usaidie

SES 5 and Eutelsat 7 are the sats to aim for, for fta channels any lnb can do, Ata ile ya dsthieves

  1. Only sats you can watch with that dish size and integrated tuner are SES-5 & Eutelsat 7 West A/ Nilesat 201. Reason? Lack of software support. Mainly.

  2. I presume the 80cm is an offset dish. For that, Stargold Fuji, Samson, ESKD QP4 LNBs will serve you well, among many other brands. Source: Any of the myriad of shops selling satellite accessories along Luthuli.

  3. As in 1 above.

  4. F-connectors, RG-6 quality cable. If more than one LNB, add DiSEqC switch.

Thanks everyone for your input. Nimeshukuru sana

I’m planning on acquiring a good decoder as per the advise hapo juu. But if you may, what channels will I be getting on the sats you’ve indicated above? I’m interested in news, documentaries and sports

Freesat combo should be your friend
