GDPR Effect in Kenya

Is there, if any, GDPR effect in kenya? I see providers around (mostly safaricom) sharing subscriber data without caring.

Are there any local laws that are in line with GDPR? And why hasn’t anyone sued them yet?

Considering the recent Twitter issue (for which they’ll definitely be fined by EU commission), isnt there anything that can be done to similar local companies?

Links appreciated. Thanks

GDPR has an effect in Kenyan banks, I know a bank which is implementating the framework. For our local laws, kuna privacy law but sijui inacome into effect lini…inakaa tu gdpr in a way. Links jitaftie takataka

GDPR has no effect on Kenyan banks unless they are subsidiaries of EU banks. Locally Gideon Moi is coming up with a similar law but the fines are nowhere near those of EU. So ours wont work

in kenya there is no institution which can regulate multinationals. they can get away with anything. does not matter you have the regulations or not.

It has, as long as EU citizens bank with it…which is all tier 1 banks
