Getting saved as a polygamist

There’s an interesting story about a certain polygamist public figure who got saved recently. I heard of one of the church leaders in Nigeria who got saved when he had married 4 wives. He left the other 3 and kept the first but he supported all his kids.

What is the biblical position on this issue. Since Bible says that a church leader must be a husband of one wife. If you had 4 before you knew better what next.

In Which book does the Bible say that?

1 Timothy 3:2

Are you reading from the witches Bible?

Learn to use concordance. The Bible has many versions

1 Timothy 3:2-12
King James Version

2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

Where does it say you have to lose your other 3 wives?

If you are not a Bishop or deacon it is okay to have many wives.

My take;

If he got saved when he already had the many wives, God will accept him and he should continue with his polygamous lifestyle (Read the spirit of Paul’s teaching on marriage in 1 Corinthians 7).

David was a polygamous man, yet he was still the man after God’s own heart, and the scriptures testify of him as having done ‘all things right before the LORD his God, and did not turn to the right or to the left except in the matter of Bethsheba and Uriah the Hittite’ and this was a case of killing a man so as to take his wife.

Most pages in the Bible are misquoted. This mind religion thing is seriously impacting human beings, making them even more confused.

You should have laughed at hearing that. Heheheee!
Don’t think he must have had some other reasons for leaving makunguru wasiofugika other than salvation? Like walimsumbua sana so kuokoka in a church ikawa ni kuokoka literally?

He supports all of the children so I do not think that they are complaining. He actually has one of the biggest churches in Nigeria.

The bible is a record of how early jews viewed God. We are 21st century and the question should be, how should we view God now? Definitely not the way those Jews reasoned

Revelations is yet to happen. God is immutable.
