Gor Mahia meet their Waterloo in CECAFA

After getting used to years of biased officiating and crude intimidation of match officials, Gor Mahia’s intimidating tactics came a cropper after they refused to take part in the 3rd place medal award ceremony and subsequently were denied their 3rd place price money and banned from CECAFA activities for 2 years.

The little winnings they have had in the recent past has gone to their heads!

You are in sports? Please, be of impeccable discipline! Discipline in sports, or anywhere else for that matter, is the most valuable attribute that will earn you the biggest money and take you places, and yet you don’t pay a penny to acquire it!

idiots abroad. they thought they could export their hooliganism abroad. if only kenyan officials would overcome their cowardness and deal with these thugs the same way here. they have really spoilt it for the football fans who would like to attend a local match without fear of violence

I wanted to comment but the argument does not support the conclusion. #enkamano

Personally, I think Gor should not have taken part in this year’s CECAFA. They have been involved in many tournaments and the players are getting fatigued. The competitions include KPL, the recently concluded SportPesa tournament, CAF Confederation Cup, CECAFA, and the Kenyan equivalent of FA.

Second, Gor’s management is messing the club right now. The management should have negotiated with Meddie Kagere for contract extension long time ago. Instead, they let him go to Simba on free transfer! How stupid! That means that they are not even getting paid by Simba.

The moment Kagere went to Simba, Gor was reduced from a super-performing team to an average team. That was evident when they drew in the first two games against Sports Rayon and Lydia Ludic. In all those games Gor had to come from behind. Clearly, the attacking prowess of Kagere is irreplaceable and this will become evident in the KPL when they start losing games which they could easily have won. Kahata could also be headed to Simba if the management don’t re-negotiate his contract. The only decent team that they played against is Azam and they were beaten 2 -0. In that game, clearly they were outclassed.

Anyway, wakule ujeuri wao.

The JaKuon gene stubbornly lives on.

In addition, the Kenyan giants will not get the Sh 1M prize money that they were supposed to receive after they beat Zanzibar’s Jeshi la Kujenga 2-0 in the third place off.

“The executive committee have met and decided to suspend Gor Mahia from Cecafa competitions for two years for snubbing the medal ceremony,” said Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye during Saturday’s press briefing.

“Even if they qualify in 2019 and 2020, they will not play. We have gone through reports of Gor Mahia matches and seen a series of indiscipline issues.First they refused the hotel, then declined to use the dressing room and on Friday they failed to honour the medal ceremony.”
